Doctor Scheinfeld received his law degree from Harvard Law School and his MD from Yale School of Medicine. He is certified by the American Board of Dermatology in both dermatology and pediatric dermatology. Doctor Scheinfeld maintains a private practice in New York, where he is on the faculty of Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and serves as an assistant attending physician at St. Luke's Roosevelt Hospital Center. He has a special interest in hidradenitis suppurativa.

In addition to having authored or co-authored over 170 peer-reviewed scientific contributions, he also serves in an editorial capacity for the Journal of Drugs in Dermatology, Cutis, Skin & Aging, the Dermatology Online Journal, the American Journal of Clinical Dermatology, and the Cortlandt Forum. For eMedicine®, he has written over 40 chapters on a variety of dermatologic subjects.
