Prof. Ruocco received his MD degree from the 2nd University of Naples Faculty of Medicine, where he continued his specialization studies in dermatology and venereology. Currently, he is Professor and Chairman of Dermatology and Venereology, and Director of the Residency Program in Dermatology and Venereology at the same university.

He serves on the editorial boards of the International Journal of Dermatology and Giornale Italiano di Dermatologia e Venereologia and is a member of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology. Prof. Ruocco is author (or co-author) of 254 scientific papers and 24 books (or chapters in books). His interests include autoimmune bullous diseases (especially pemphigus), cytodiagnosis in dermatology, lymphedema, and regional impairment of immune surveillance.
