Dr Ramos-e-Silva graduated from the School of Medicine of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and completed her Residency in Dermatology at the Rio de Janeiro State Assistance Institute. She is now Associate Professor of Dermatology and Head of the Sector of Dermatology of the University Hospital of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and maintains a private dermatology practice in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

She is a member of the Brazilian Society of Dermatology, American Academy of Dermatology, American Dermatologic Association, and European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology. She has also been elected Director of the International Committee of Dermatology of the International League of Dermatology and serves as Vice-President for South America of the International Academy of Cosmetic Dermatology. Her interests include tropical dermatology, oral dermatology, infectious diseases of the skin, ethnic skin, gender dermatology, and scars and keloids.
